The link doesn't go live when I start

The app shows a red banner when this happens. It means your account can't attach the run to the event: either your email isn't verified yet (setup screen → "Send verification email"), or you haven't accepted the host's invitation (event picker → Accept), or the event names someone else as the runner. Fix that, end the run, start again.

Friends aren't getting the "15 minutes away" email

Alerts go only to people signed up at that spot, and only while your phone is sending locations. If your phone has no signal for a while, an alert can arrive late; one that would arrive after you've passed is dropped instead. Hosts can see every alert and its outcome under "Race control" in the host panel.

The estimated times look wrong

Before you start they are the plan: your projected pace (or goal time and the hills) applied to the route. Once you're moving they blend the plan with your actual pace over the last couple of kilometres, so they move. "~" in front of a time means live.

The app asked for "Always" location

Only used between Start Run and End Run, so the map keeps moving with the phone in a pocket. See privacy.

I want my data gone

Delete your account: in the app under the profile icon, or "Delete account" on the web. It's immediate.

Exporting a route from Strava, Garmin, Komoot, RideWithGPS

Export the route as GPX from that service, then use the file picker under "Route" in the host panel. A Google Maps directions link can be pasted directly.
