Privacy
FindMyRunner exists to share where a runner is with the people she chose. This page says exactly what is collected, who sees it, and for how long. Last updated 15 September 2026.
What is collected, and why

Background location
The app asks for "Always" location access. It uses location only between Start Run and End Run, and needs the background permission because a runner's phone is in a pocket or an armband with the screen off. Outside a run the app does not read your location at all. You can hide the first and last 300 m of a run ("Hide start and finish" on the setup screen): those fixes never leave the phone, since a start is often a front door.
Who can see what
- Anyone with the event link sees the route, the planned times, the runner's live position while the run is on, and the first names of people signed up at each spot.
- The runner and the hosts also see friends' email addresses, phone numbers and check-ins.
- Nobody else. There are no public listings and no search.
How long it is kept
- The runner's track is visible on the link while the run is on and for 7 days after. After that it is not shared unless the runner turns "Keep the track public" on for that run. The runner's own history keeps it.
- Event, signup and contact data stay until the host deletes the event, you leave the spot, or you delete your account.
- Emails are sent through Resend and are not stored beyond delivery logs.
Deleting your account
In the app: profile icon → Delete Account. On the web: "Delete account" in the host panel or next to your name on an event page. It removes your signups and contact details everywhere, the events you own with everything under them, your runs and tracks, push tokens and the account itself. This is immediate and cannot be undone.
Services used
- Google Firebase (Google LLC): sign-in, the database, the functions that send alerts, hosting. Data is stored in the United States.
- Google Maps Platform: the maps, snapping drawn routes to roads, elevation, and nearby places in the host panel. Your browser sends the relevant coordinates to Google to draw the map.
- Resend: sends the sign-in links, alerts and reminders from alerts@findmyrunner.now.
- Apple Push Notification service: delivers push alerts to iPhones.
No advertising, no analytics beyond what the services above log to operate, no selling or sharing of data with anyone else.
